Moon Knight Sightings
The History of Moon Knight
Mission Objective
For those like myself who want to see all of this character's appearances, there are places you could go to find these out (my references were the ever-updating Comic Vine website, as well as The Comic Book Database site). But just because a comic is listed as having Moon Knight in it does not necessarily mean he actually plays a part in it; he may only appear in one panel or in a pin-up gallery page at the back. And unless you absolutely HAVE to have every single one of these comics (personally, I found that many of these were a waste for me to track down and purchase), I am posting this page to help the more discerning fan get the information needed to make a rational decision before going crazy to find every issue listed.

For the many listings that I simply describe as being one-panel (or more) or being on a few pages with maybe a few speech balloons, the implication is that they are minor (both to the story as well as to the character in general) unless I elaborate further to clarify their significance. In most of those cases, they could have used anyone in those panels. When I say he is a face in a crowd or the equivalent of background filler, that is pretty self-explanatory in its irrelevance.
Omissions
So many trade paperbacks and other collections have reprinted a number of issues Moon Knight has been in. A valuable resource I relied on for years was the softbound B&W-printed Essential Moon Knight Volume 1, which collected most of his early appearances. Years later, I was able to replace this with the hardcover full-color Moon Knight Omnibus Volume 1. I highly recommend either of these for collectors who (like most of us) would not be able to track down or afford all these early works. But for the sake of this website, I choose to leave out these and other reprints (including digital reprints, such as Marvel's Infinity Comics line) unless they are single comic book issues that show up on sites like Comic Vine and may lead to confusion. However, obvious reprints, such as found in issues of True Believers or "facsimile editions" (both of which are understood to offer reprints of old issues), will be left out. And I also will not be mentioning "Red Band" variant editions, which often seem to be treated as separate titles.

And unless there is something original or informative to them and they do not just function as an advertisement, I have left out magazines and magazine-type comics--a good example is Marvel Age, where I have included issues 9, 74, 93, and 96 but not issues 26, 90, or 124.

Also, this is only for American comic books published by Marvel, not European reprints published by Italy's Panini comics or the rare Japanese manga of Moon Knight that was apparently published in the late seventies/early eighties.
How the Website Is Organized
On the "Team" Moon Knight page, we meet MK's cast of characters from his various solo series. I decided against creating a page for his more famous villains (such as Bushman, Black Spectre, Stained Glass Scarlet, Shadow Knight, the Committee, and Morpheus), as it is much more fun to learn about them in the pages of the actual comics they are in. This website's main section--History in the Comics--is divided into several pages, or "phases," that are structured in the only way that makes sense to me: chronologically. Each page covers a different period in MK's publication history, and significant changes dictate when a new page is needed. Also on the main History in the Comics page, you will find a table called "Series Featuring Moon Knight," which gives a quick look at all the series that he was considered to be a main character in. MK's Affiliations explores his relationships with other heroes in the Marvel Universe, and Beyond the Comic Book addresses MK's appearances outside of the comic book venue. And at the bottom of the Contact page, you will find a Moon Knight Trivia Quiz to play!
Why Moon Knight?
If you have to ask, this perhaps isn't the site for you. I think Charles Xavier might have said it best when referring to MK back in 1984: "He is a powerful force for good. Perhaps more powerful, in his own way, than we X-Men."
History of This Website
Years ago, this website existed on another free server before the whole server shut down. All data was temporarily stored on a different server in an unpublished format (which I updated regularly for my own personal use) until I decided to finally create a new website on this platform, with several changes from the original: added pages and segments & removed personal remarks on the quality of the stories or the writers' use of the character--though some comments do remain.
